A routine traffic stop in Saratoga Springs led to a seizure of nine pounds of marijuana from two North Country men on Broadway.
Police Officer, Justin Ahigian, pulled Christopher Redding, 28, of Messena and James Parrotte, 17, of Madrid, over at just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday for making an unsafe lane change. When the officer approached the car, Ahigian said the occupants appeared to be acting nervous. Redding, the driver, had a suspended license and was arrested. When authorities searched the vehicle, they found nine pounds of marijuana. The street value is estimated to be $27,000.
Both the men were charged with a second-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Redding was also charged with unsafe lane change and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Redding is being held without bail and Parrotte is being held on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Once again another reason why you need to obey all laws until marijuana becomes fully legalized. You should be especially careful if you’re going to carry nine pounds of the green stuff just incase a situation like this pops up. This type of action just gives the law more power.
